Professionalizing Guanacaste’s
Gastronomy
With the goal of elevating the gastronomic level of the province, a group
of well-known chefs in the area have come together to form the Guanacaste
Association of Chefs.
This group which already
has the recognition of A.N.C.H. (National Assoc. Of Chefs), the Pan-American Forum of Culinary Associations and W.A.C.S. (World Association of
Chefs Societies),
seeks to include all the gastronomic workers of Guanacaste with the purpose of
diversifying and perfecting the regional gastronomic options, establishing high
standards for the industry and helping to prepare future chefs within the
province.
Among
its first activities is the organization of the competition for the “Culinary
Cup of the Americas”, also providing training of the judges and helping with
the organization of the final event of the Cup.
‘With much pride, we were also able to train and
include groups of promising youth from the technical-professional schools and
hotels in Guanacaste to participate in the Junior category of the Culinary Cup,
thus bringing a representation of Guanacaste for the first time to participate
at an international event in this level’, said Andrea Fiorentín, one of the founders.

This association also
collaborates with prestigious institutions such as PROCOMER (Foreign Trade Promoter) in the diffusion of our
gastronomic products. They recently
organized an event honoring the “Mango”, an activity in which the chefs delighted everyone with
new ideas and techniques related to this fruit, one of the most attractive
flavors of the tropical cuisine.
