What you can do to reduce it?

- Change your lightbulbs: Using fluorescent bulbs saves 400 kgs of carbon dioxide.

- Recycling half of your waste will save up to 1000kg of CO2.

- Check your tires: Keeping them inflated to the correct pressure will help your car consume less gasoline. Every liter saved will free up 2.5 kg of CO2.

- Use less hot water using a low pressure shower. Wash your laundry with cold water.

- Avoid purchasing products that use excessive packaging.

- Set you air conditioning temperature 2 degrees higher You don’t need to freeze to cool down. Besides, extreme temperature changes cause colds.

- Plant a tree. Simple. One tree will absorb one ton of CO2.

- Switch of electrical appliances if you are not using them: TV, DVD, Radio, Computer.

- Drive less: Walk or ride a bike. For every 5km traveled without using a car you save 1.5kg of CO2.

- Consume unbottled liquids: Fresh fruit juices and the water from young coconuts are healthier and come in natural, biodegrable packaging.

How to SAVE gas & contaminate less?

- Do not speed up when close to a corner, where you will need to slow down again.

- If you are driving uphill do not accelerate “strongly”. If the hill is very slanted it is better to accelerate slowly and constantly.

- Do not accelerate when driving downhill. Just leave your engine neutral and it will move without wasting gas. The coastline is characterized for its up and downs, you could save some gas if you let gravity do its job.

- Do not abuse of air conditioning. It is harmful for your articulations and lungs. Do not buy A/C with CFC gases, this destroy our ozone layer.

- Avoid the abrupt use of breaks. Try to gently slow down, this will keep your breaks in better shape for a longer time.

- Do not overweight your vehicle.

- Buy lead free gas, and do not fill the deposit unless it is necessary to avoid the extra weight. Fill your tank during the morning, when fuel is colder and denser.

- Check on the “quality” of your car emissions in a specialized shop.
